Open Shelter Home

The emotional, social and physical development of young children has a direct effect on their overall development and on the adult they will become. Hence, to maximize their future well-being ‘Open Shelter Home’ CECS has continued to invest in reducing the vulnerability of children in difficult circumstances and providing a protective and safe haven ensuring the overall growth and development of children and keeping them away from socially deviant behaviors, in addition to fulfilling their basic requirements for food, shelter and protection.

The objective of this project is to contribute to the improvement in the welfare of the children in difficult conditions. The quintessence of the project is to reduce vulnerabilities of children against circumstances and actions that lead to abuse, neglect, exploitation, abandonment and separation.

The rescued children in the shelter home are kept with care and protection foremostly, besides encouraging and engaging them into fun-filled activities and programmes. The children under the supervisor took part in ‘Swacch Bharat campaign,’ celebrating important holidays of the country and state, Pre-Christmas celebration, etc. The children are also given vocational trainings, art and craft making, health and hygiene awareness.

Altogether, there were 81 (eighty one) children who have come and stayed at Open Shelter. Out of which 38 (thirty eight) children were brought by the CHILDLINE Dimapur through CWC (Child Welfare Committee) orders, for various Cases. Whereas the remaining 43 (forty three) Children were brought through outreach/ field visitation and these children have come for day care.
